Current Reads
Life’s What You Make It by Phillip Schofield
I’ve only just started this book but I’m enjoying it so far. I just got this book for my birthday last month and have been so keen to read it so hopefully it keeps on being a good read!
Bound by Vanda Symon
I’m really enjoying this book. Sam Shepherd is my favourite fictional detective and I always love being back in her world. This book is really gripping and I’m intrigued to see what’s going to happen.
Recent Reads
The Arrangement by Robyn Harding
I’d been stalled on this book for a couple of weeks but I picked it back up on Monday night and finished it in one go. I was hooked reading the second part of this book and while I had my theories about what was going to happen, the novel still had surprises in store so I loved that.
The Disappearing Act by Florence de Changy
This is such a well-researched and fascinating look at the disappearance of Flight MH370. I had to read this a chapter at a time and to keep putting it down as it contains a lot of info but I’m really glad I read it and I recommend it.
I Survived by Victoria Cilliers
This is a memoir about a woman who almost died in a sky diving accident, only it turned out it wasn’t an accident but attempted murder. The book explores Victoria’s relationship with her husband and the effects of coercive control. This book was hard to read at times but I definitely recommend it.
What I Might Read Next
Perfect Tunes by Emily Gould
Kitty Genovese: A True Account of a Public Murder and its Private Consequences by Catherine Pelonero
The Split by Sharon Bolton
As is usual for me these days I don’t know what I’ll be reading next but these three books are the ones that most appealled when I was looking through my bookcase and Kindle this week!
I have been eyeing The Split…and I enjoyed The Arrangement. Now I want to know more about I Survived. Thanks for sharing.
Here/s MY WWW POST
I Survived was a chilling read but it was well written and definitely worth reading.
Oh, the Kitty Genovese story has resounded for decades, Hayley, and when you get to that book about it, I hope you’ll enjoy it. And it’s very good to hear that you’re enjoying Bound. I like the Sam Shepherd character, too, and I think Vanda Symon really does tell a good story!
I loved Bound, Sam Shephard is one of my favourite characters!
I really enjoyed The Split so I hope you do as well.
I still haven’t managed to pick The Split up but I definitely need to read it soon, I feel sure I’m going to love it. I’m glad you enjoyed it so much.
Wow I Survived sounds like it sound be fiction rather than nonfiction!
I know what you mean re I Survived, it’s definitely non-fiction and worth a read though.
I just finished Anxious People, which I enjoyed more than I thought I would when I first began it. Now, I’ve got to take a look at my shelf and commit to something new. Just me, or is that a hard ask? How do I choose from the books I’ve already accrued as wanting to read?
I’m glad you enjoyed Anxious People, I must add that one to my wish list. 🙂 I’m the same – I take ages deciding what to read next after I finish a book. It’s so hard to know exactly what you’re in the mood for and what will grab your attention. I hope you’ve found some great books to read 🙂
I Survived… I don’t even know what to say about that! SCARY! I would totally read that.
I Survived was chilling but it was well-written and worth reading.
A good selection but too many scary books there for me! I’m reading a Dean Street Press novel, “MIss Carter and the Ifrit” which is huge fun, and have finished my Anne Tyler and “The London Dream” by Chris McMillan, which was a Marxist reading of London capitalism, as you do. Currently also reading a book about acts of kindness published by Lonely Planet.
Sam Shepherd… that name rings bells – has this series been televised at all, Hayley? As ever, a lovely wide range of books:). I hope this coming week is a lovely one bookwise!
I don’t think the Sam Shepherd series has been televised but I’m not certain on that. It’s a great series of book though, I recommend them. 🙂
Thank you for the recommendation, Hayley! I’m always on the lookout for a good whodunit series without too much grim grittiness or gore…
I hope you enjoy the Sam Shepherd series, I honestly love it.
The Split looks and sounds so good. I hope you enjoy it!
