Current Reads
I’m still feeling really lacklustre with reading but I have found these two non-fiction books that are holding my attention. The New Jim Crow is an audiobook that I’ve borrowed from BorrowBox and I’m finding it so eye-opening. Just Eat it is about intuitive eating – it caught my attention recently given that I’m in the middle of trying to eat in a much more healthy way. It’s interesting so far and I’m keen to read more.

Recent Reads
I haven’t read much at all this week. Gravity Well is a short poetry collection which I enjoyed. I’m on the blog tour for it today if you’d like to read my thoughts on it. House of Correction was a gripping audiobook that I really enjoyed. The Phone Box at the Edge of the World was ultimately a life-affirming read and I’m glad I picked it up.

What I Might Read Next
To be honest I have no idea what I might read next so I’m not even going to pretend about what I might pick up. I hope I pick up something that gets my reading mojo back in full swing. If you have any recommendations I’d appreciate them. 🙂
What are you reading this week? I’d love to know! 🙂
I’m so glad you enjoyed House of Correction Hayley, and hope you enjoy whatever you read or listen to next. xx
I hope you find something really fascinating to pick up next. Can you get an e-book of The Good Immigrant UK, which looks really good and I know you enjoy people’s stories with something to think about. In another direction, I just finished Madeleine Bunting’s Love of Country, which is about the Hebrides and slower but really absorbing. I just gave up on a NetGalley novel (The Little Tea Shop in Tokyo) which I found had too much romance I didn’t believe and not enough Japan, and I have far too much great stuff stacking up to read to finish it. I’m about to start Wintering: A Season with Geese by Stephen Rutt, which I have to review for Shiny New Books then I will go on to Paul Magrs’ 666 Charing Cross Road for my ongoing Magrsathon.
Take care of yourself and let’s get that reading mojo back!
You know, Hayley, I don’t think there’s anything at all wrong with not being sure of what you’re going to read next. Sometimes you have to go with your gut and pick out what seems appealing at a given moment. Sometimes the brain knows subconsciously what we want to read. It’s a bit like the discussion of eating in Just Eat It. Sometimes your body is just trying to send messages, if I can put it that way.
Currently reading A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness, and dipping in and out of Montalbano’s First Case and Other Stories by Andrea Camilleri
I can’t wait to get my copy of House of Correction! I am also curious about Just Eat It!
Enjoy your books and your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.
I really like the sound of The Phone Box at the Edge of the World! I hope you will enjoy your books this week and happy reading. xx
I love the cover of Gravity Well. Very cool! A great selection of reads ❤️
I need that Just Eat It book…but did they really need to put a doughnut on the front? That makes me want to eat!
The Phone box is on my tbr but I’ve been thinking of suggesting it as a book club read. Do you think it’d be a good choice with plenty to discuss?
I hope you get your reading mojo back Hayley, it has been tough for a lot of people lately. I have heard good things about The House of Correction and have added it to my TBR.
