Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality, which is all about sharing the books that you’ve acquired in the past week!
Books and eBooks
Notes to Self by Emilie Pine
I literally read a review of this book yesterday morning and thought it sounded interesting and then saw the kindle book was on a daily deal on Amazon so I snapped it up. I’d like to read more essay collections and some of the themes explored in this book sound really interesting to me so I’m looking forward to dipping in and out of this one.
The Murders at White House Farm by Carol Ann Lee
I bought this book mid-week as I was anticipating the new ITV drama exploring this case. I started reading it immediately and have almost finished it. It’s a really in-depth look at the case, and all the people involved. There is a lot about the lives of the family well before the murders happened, which I appreciated.
Date with Death, Date With Malice and Date with Mystery (Books 1, 2 & 3 in (The Dales Detective series) by Julia Chapman
I had read some reviews of this series over Christmas and immediately added these books to my wish list as they sound like something I would really enjoyed. So it was serendipitous that just a few days later I was offered the first three in the series by a fellow blogger in a swap. I’m so keen to pick these up so I don’t think they’ll be on my TBR for long!
Review Books
The Sight of You by Holly Miller
I requested this book from NetGalley on a total whim as I loved the sound of the blurb. It does sound like it could be a weepy so I’ll have to be in the right mood to read it but I’m really happy to have a copy of this on my TBR.
Strangers by C. L. Taylor
I’ve loved all of C. L. Taylor’s novels so far so when I heard she had a new novel coming out this year I immediately opened NetGalley and requested it. I can’t wait to get to this one!
The Guest List by Lucy Foley
I downloaded this one from NetGalley this week as I really enjoyed Lucy Foley’s previous novel and I just can’t resist books where people are all trapped in one location when something terrible happens.
The Familiar Dark by Amy Engel
I read and loved The Roanoke Girls by Amy Engel so I absolutely had to read her forthcoming new novel. This definitely won’t be on my TBR for very long!
Have you acquired any new books this week? I’d love to know what you got. Or have you read any of my new books and recommend I get to any of them sooner rather than later? If you’ve shared a book haul post this week then please feel free to share you link below and I’ll make sure to visit your post! 🙂
Fab haul! I loved The Sight of You, it’s a wonderful read that I could definitely read again!
Thank you 🙂 I can’t wait to read The Sight of You, it sounds so good!
i enjoyed The Roanoke Girls, so I’m curious about The Familiar Dark. Enjoy your reading!
Me too, I hope The Familiar Dark is just as good. I can’t wait to read it.
You do have a nice haul here, Hayley. It’s good to see that you have essays as well as fiction, and different sorts of fiction, too. I think you’re going to have some great reads there!
Thank you! I’m hoping to get to read these books soon, it’s been a while since I picked up an essay collection so that might be first off the pile. 🙂
Hmm – wonder where you saw “Date With…” books being reviewed? :p
I couldn’t find my note about where I’d heard about those books so apologies for not linking back to your blog. I’m so happy I heard about the books though and can’t wait to read them. 🙂
So jealous of “The Guest List”. On the Canadian NetGalley it is not available for request. You can wish for it so obviously that is what I did. Fingers crossed.
I hope your wish for The Guest List was granted. It sounds like such a great read and I very much enjoyed her previous novel The Hunting Party so have very high hopes for her new one. 🙂

This is a great haul! Strangers looks impressive! Enjoy!
Thank you! I’m really looking forward to reading Strangers, I love Cally Taylor’s writing.
I’ve admitted to one, Chetan Bhagat’s Two States, but actually bought it about 10 days ago (I’ve been reviewing NetGalley and Dean St Press books and it never feels appropriate to share other books in on those). And I won The Authenticity Project by Clare Pooley from NetGalley the other day (still clinging on to my 81% reviewed status, and I am reading one from NG at the moment …)
Well done on keeping your NetGalley over 81%! I love the sound of The Authenticity Project, I hope you really enjoy it.
Okay — I need to pick up The Murder at White House Farm, this book sounds right up my alley and I’ve never heard of it before.
It’s such an interesting read, very in-depth. I picked it up as there’s a drama on in the UK at the moment based on this real life case so I wanted to know what the true story was. I hope you get a chance to read the book.
Fab haul! I was recently approved for Strangers as well… I can’t wait to read that one! I hope you will enjoy these. xx
Thank you! I can’t wait to read Strangers, it sounds like such an intriguing novel and I love CL Taylor’s writing. I hope you enjoy it when you read it. 🙂 x
